Unspoken Promises – Part 1
Title: "Unspoken Promises – Part 1"
The rain poured heavily that evening, drenching the city in silver streams of water. Arjun sat in the dimly lit café, stirring his coffee absentmindedly, watching the world blur through the fogged-up window. The air smelled of roasted beans and damp earth, a strange but comforting combination.
He wasn’t waiting for anyone. Or maybe he was.
His heart had carried an unnamed longing for years, an ache he had never dared to put into words. Growing up in a small town where love was expected to fit inside a mold, Arjun had learned to hide his truth behind forced smiles and unspoken dreams. But here, in the chaos of Mumbai, he had hoped to find something—someone—who could make him believe that love wasn’t just a whispered secret.
And then, as if the universe had been listening, he walked in.
Ahaan.
Tall, confident, and with the kind of smile that could turn an ordinary evening into a memory. He shook his umbrella outside before stepping in, his dark curls still damp from the rain. Arjun’s breath caught in his throat as their eyes met, and for a brief moment, time seemed to stand still.
Ahaan ordered a black coffee and turned to find a seat. The café was almost full, except for the empty chair in front of Arjun.
“Mind if I sit here?” Ahaan asked, his voice warm, inviting.
Arjun nodded, suddenly too aware of the way his pulse quickened.
“You come here often?” Ahaan asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
“Sometimes,” Arjun replied. His voice was steadier than he expected.
“I just moved to Mumbai,” Ahaan continued, his fingers drumming lightly on the table. “Trying to find my place in the madness. Thought a cup of coffee might help.”
Arjun smiled. “Mumbai is madness, but it has a way of giving you what you’re looking for.”
Ahaan tilted his head, intrigued. “And what are you looking for, Arjun?”
Arjun hesitated. He had spent years avoiding that question, afraid of the answer. But tonight, under the soft glow of café lights, with Ahaan’s eyes holding his like a silent promise, he felt something shift.
Maybe, just maybe, he was ready to find out.
To be continued…
