Unspoken Promises – Part 5 (Final Chapter)

Unspoken Promises – Part 5 (Final Chapter)

The city never truly slept. Outside, Mumbai hummed with life—cars rushing past, neon lights flickering, raindrops painting silver trails down glass windows. But inside the quiet bookstore, time had slowed.

Arjun’s fingers were still wrapped around Ahaan’s hand, a silent promise between them.

For the first time in his life, Arjun wasn’t afraid.

Ahaan smiled at him, the kind of smile that made the air feel lighter. "So, what now?"

Arjun exhaled, his heart pounding. "Now… I stop running."

Ahaan’s eyes softened. "And?"

Arjun took a shaky breath. "And I choose to feel."

Ahaan’s grip tightened just slightly, enough to tell Arjun he was here, that he wasn’t alone in this. "Good," Ahaan murmured. "Because I’ve been waiting for you to choose this."

A warm laugh escaped Arjun’s lips, part nervous, part something else—something lighter, freer. "I don’t know how to do this," he admitted.

Ahaan chuckled, his thumb brushing over Arjun’s knuckles. "Neither do I. But maybe we don’t need to have all the answers. Maybe we just… take it one moment at a time."

Arjun smiled, the weight of years of silence lifting from his shoulders. "One moment at a time," he echoed.

Ahaan’s gaze flickered to the book still in Arjun’s hands. "You know," he mused, "love stories in books always have these grand, dramatic endings. But I think the best ones don’t end at all."

Arjun tilted his head. "No?"

Ahaan shook his head. "No. They just keep going. Like this." He gestured between them. "Like us."

Arjun’s heart swelled at the thought.

For so long, he had believed love was something distant, something that lived only in stories or stolen dreams. But here, in this tiny bookstore, in the warmth of Ahaan’s presence, he realized something.

Love wasn’t a secret to be kept.

Love wasn’t a story that had to end.

Love was here. Now. With Ahaan.

Ahaan took a step closer, their foreheads almost touching. "Can I kiss you?" he whispered.

Arjun’s breath hitched. But this time, there was no fear, no doubt. Just warmth. Just belonging.

He smiled. "Yes."

And as Ahaan leaned in, pressing the softest, most breathtaking kiss against his lips, the world around them blurred.

There was no hesitation. No shame. No running.

Just love.

And maybe, just maybe, this was the kind of love story that didn’t need an ending.

Because it had only just begun.

The End...
